Stars Over Clayton: A Light Show Celebration Coming to Downtown Clayton
Downtown Clayton is getting ready to shine in a whole new way.
The Clayton Merchants & Business Association and the City of Clayton are proud to announce Stars Over Clayton, a special light show celebration taking place on Wednesday, July 1st from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
The evening will feature food trucks, music, activities, downtown gatherings, and a patriotic USA-themed drone show lighting up the skies over Clayton. The drone show is expected to begin at approximately 9:00 PM.
A New Kind of Celebration for Clayton
At our most recent CMBA meeting, there was a lot of discussion about a possible 4th of July event for the City of Clayton. At the time, the CMBA Board shared that nothing had been finalized, but we welcomed ideas, input, and a plan from the membership.
What we were unable to say that evening was that we had already been working behind the scenes on a special event opportunity. For a time, it looked like the plan may not come together. Then, just a few days after the meeting, the opportunity opened back up.
We jumped on it.
Now, CMBA and the City of Clayton are excited to bring Stars Over Clayton to the community.
A USA-Themed Drone Show Over Downtown Clayton
The highlight of the evening will be a large-scale drone light show over the skies of Clayton. This patriotic show will bring a fresh and exciting experience to downtown while creating a celebration that families, visitors, merchants, and the community can enjoy together.
One of the most exciting parts of this event is how unique it is for our area. Large-scale drone shows are still rare in our region, with some of the closest comparable shows being in places like Chattanooga, Stone Mountain, and Greenville.
Clayton is fortunate to have the opportunity to host this type of show right here in our downtown community.
Where to Watch the Drone Show
The drone show will launch from Clayton City Hall. Guests are welcome to gather on the City Hall grounds, where food trucks, music, and activities will be part of the evening leading up to the show.
We have been told the show may be visible from up to a two-mile radius from the launch area. That means there will be opportunities throughout downtown Clayton for people to gather, enjoy the evening, and watch the skies light up.
Downtown merchants are encouraged to host watch parties, specials, activities, and celebrations at their locations and throughout the downtown area.

Merchants are encouraged to consider hosting special activities, promotions, watch parties, extended hours, themed menus, giveaways, or other creative ways to welcome visitors and locals into downtown Clayton for the evening.
This is a great opportunity to showcase what makes Clayton special: our local businesses, restaurants, shops, hospitality, and strong sense of community.
